employee spotlight: Kelsey
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Kelsey Huelsenbeck. I am a Purdue University Alumn and am from Indy (Indianapolis), but I live in West Lafayette now. I actually live on a cattle farm. I got married back in April 2017 and have a french bulldog named Ellie. I also was a high school Spanish teacher for 3 years.
What is your job at Antique Candle Co.®?
My position is Chief Operating Officer. My role at Antique Candle Co.® ensures that our Production team and Shipping team are properly staffed and supported. I get to work along side both teams to create and ship candles to all of our customers. I am also the point of contact for all of our wholesale customers! I love interacting with them, learning about their small businesses, and answering any questions that they have.
My job also consists of developing any new product. Whenever we are looking to add a new fragrance to our line, I get the whole team involved with testing out lots of fragrances before we decide on a select few to send out to customers for testing! We always have a really good time selecting them!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
We have been renovating our house, so I like to do projects for the house or refinish furniture.
What is your favorite place to grab some grub?
Texas Roadhouse. I love the steaks and rolls.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
I really like Phil. 4:13. "I can do all things in Him who strengthens me."
What is your favorite TV show?

I’ve traveled to quite a few countries. I've been to Spain 3 times, Peru, Morocco, Ireland, France, and Portugal.
You are happiest when...
...I'm spending time with my family. We like to get together and just hang out.
What part of working at Antique Candle Co.® do you enjoy the most?
I really like all of the people here and it is a very encouraging place to work.
Do you have any life goals?
I would love to own a small, fresh cut flower farm. It is a dream for my sister and I to do that together.
Have you learned anything from working at Antique Candle Co.®?
It's been interesting seeing all the interworking of how a small business is run, watching it grow, and how we as a team have to adapt and adjust as the business grows. That have been fun to be a part of.
What is your favorite fragrance at Antique Candle Co.®?
I love all of the holiday fragrances. Other than the holiday scents, I really love Cashmere (a discontinued scent) or Clean Cotton.
What is your favorite thing about Lafayette/West Lafayette, Indiana?
Purdue - Boiler Up! I love living near Purdue University. It's fun to go to the football games and the campus is amazing. I also like that in Lafayette and West Lafayette there is like a small town feel, but there are still all the comforts of a larger city.
