When Antique Candle Co.® reached out to me to see if I was interested in a collaboration, it was an immediate YES! Are you kidding me? A signature scent candle I get to choose? What a DREAM collaboration!! This whole experience has been SO much fun and I just truly feel so honored that they wanted me to represent their company, something I do not take lightly. I will say over and over how incredible this whole experience has been. Antique Candle has gone above and beyond to just make this experience so special, fun, and a true joy. Every detail is planned out and every one of the staff I have got to meet and work with are truly the kindest and most joyful people.

When we first started talking about what this candle was going to be, it was a lot of talking about what I wanted as the overall feeling, smell, and direction of this candle. I knew going into this what “vibe” I wanted, but goodness I had no idea so much went into creating one single scent! From chatting about the scent and testing so many combinations, to taking those through stringent testing for how they burn, if they smell like they should, how they smell warm and cold, then narrowing it down to three scents to test, we ultimately choose “the one.”

After many months of talking, planning, visiting the studio/ warehouse, and many many emails, Country Home by Allie Boss was born. So let’s go back to the beginning...

When we first started this collaboration it was, "First, what are the smells I love most? What am I most drawn to in a candle? What of their candles do I love the most?" Antique Candle truly wanted this candle to be ME! For me, I wanted this candle to be a stand alone. Something that was unique, but familiar; warm, inviting, cozy, and HOME. I gave them all the scents I loved, what ones I didn’t, and we kinda had a general idea to figure out what I wanted this scent of the candle to be.

The day I visited the studio was such a blast. A day full of talking, laughing, and getting a front row seat to everything they do, which, to be honest, is way more than I could imagine. From design teams, editing teams, scent teams, production teams, management teams, social media teams, packaging and shipping teams... They have a large team of employees that goes well beyond making some candles and selling them! During that visit I got to smell for the first time the top 3 scents to choose from and it felt like Christmas Day!

I was sent home with 3 scents to start really getting to know and test out. I’ll be the first to say candles all smell different in different environments. When I took all 3 home and started filling my home with their scent, the one I chose as my least favorite out of the three ending up being exactly what I wanted once it filled my home. It had everything I asked for. It was warm and cozy with a feeling of nostalgia. It carried through my home well and it felt like me. The more I lit it, the more I craved it. It had a familiar scent but something so different. It was truly a feeling of home every time I lit it.

After I decided on the one, it was time to name it. I had been thinking about names this whole time for the candles from the very start. Originally, with this being a fall launch I was thinking of fall names. I had a bunch in mind, but the more I lit this candle I kept going back to home. This candle gives a feeling of cozy, welcoming, familiar home sweet home. I couldn’t shake the feeling that it needed to be "Country Home." My mind kept going back to it. Scents of apple, pear, and woods are like a drive through the country, and with a familiar feeling of home with the sandalwood and a bit of spice, it just fits. When I pitched the idea to Antique Candle I told them when I smell this candle I can’t help but KNOW this is a staple home scent. Not a fall scent (although amazing for fall) it has a smell that is something that works well all year round. I didn’t want to add a name that had fall in it because I wanted it to be able to be marketed for a year round home scent. I know if it was named something with fall, well, I don’t think I’d typically buy that scent come spring—haha!

So here we are over five months later launching Country Home. Something I am BEYOND excited to share with everyone. Something I’m so proud to represent and so excited for people to fall in love with like I have, too! Here’s to feelings of a nostalgic home sweet home in the country. 🧺🐓
