employee spotlight: Tori
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Tori. I was born and raised in Lafayette, and I still love living here. I also went to Purdue University where I got my degree in management with a concentration in marketing.
What is your job at Antique Candle Co.®?
I am the Community Manager. I manage our Instagram and Facebook media pages and respond to every customer emails/message.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I really like to play croquet and euchre with my family, and I like to read crime/murder mystery novels. I also have an Etsy shop called "Hills and Honey" where I make and sell wood signs, and design custom invitation cards.
Where is your favorite place to grab some grub?
Pepe's Mexican Restaurant! I've been going there for my birthday for years. One of my favorite things there are the beef enchiladas.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
I love Joshua 1:9, but I also love Isaiah 43:2 -
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?
I LOVE The Office! I've seen the whole show probably 10 times; it is a classic. The only person I know that doesn't like it is Emily, haha! For my favorite movie, I'd have to say Forrest Gump.
What is something that most people don't know about you?
I have an actual coffee addiction. I love the cold brews at Starbucks, and my dad makes really good cappuccinos at home. I love anything like that with caffeine, and it's almost becoming a bit of a problem!
You are happiest when...
I'm just relaxing with my family and Jack (my boyfriend). Reading with a cup of coffee is always great, too.
What part of working at Antique Candle Co.® do you enjoy the most?
I LOVE getting to know the community! This change from production (where I used to be as a Production Assistant) to marketing has really given me an opportunity to get to know all the lovely people that support our small business, and interact with them daily!
Do you have any life goals?
Yes! Long term, it would be to have my own sign shop or graphic design based business. I also have always seen myself having a big family, so that would be ideal, too.
Have you learned anything from working at Antique Candle Co.®?
The biggest thing I've learned is actually realizing how shopping small or local really does make a huge difference to each of us in the studio. I've also been able to see how a small business impacts so many people's lives, not just those behind the business.
What is your favorite fragrance at Antique Candle Co.®?
It depends on the season for me, but Clean Cotton is one of my top favorites year-round. Cashmere is a go-to in the cozier months, and Fall Harvest is probably my new favorite fall scent!
What is your favorite thing about Lafayette/West Lafayette, Indiana?
It's just home. I've been here my whole life, so I know a lot about it. There's a good mix of city and country living, too. It can be quaint and quiet, or just the opposite with Purdue, so the whole area just as a good balance. Like I said, it's home!
