employee spotlight: Carol
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Carol Dishon. I'm from Rossville, Indiana. My husband's name is Gunnar, and we have two sons, Aidan and Soren. I homeschool my boys and I also work part time as a financial secretary at my church.
What is your job at Antique Candle Co.®?
I am a Candle Maker. I actually make the candles and do a lot of the prep-work for candle making. Jobs like wicking jars, cleaning, and labeling the candles after they are poured.

What do you like to do if you have spare time?
I like gardening and being outside. I also like to play tennis. I really enjoy just spending time with my family.
What is your favorite place to grab some grub?
Probably Nine Irish Brothers or Maggio's in Indy.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
Lately I like the verse Isaiah 49:15-16. - But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.
What is your favorite TV show?
I really enjoy Fixer Upper.
What is something most people don't know about you?
I completed the Belfast, Northern Ireland marathon in 2003.
You are happiest when...?
...I'm on a beach with my family. We always go to a beach because that is our favorite place to visit on vacation.
What part of working at Antique Candles Co.® do you enjoy most?
I enjoy the atmosphere and the people I work with, and that I always smell good when I leave. It's also cool to know that the candles we make are going to people all over the country.
Do you have any life goals?
My biggest life goal is just to raise my boys to be gentlemen and productive citizens.
Have you learned anything from working at Antique Candle Co.®?
It's neat to see how someone can turn a hobby into a successful small business. I've seen how it is definitely possible to be successful at a small business if you put your mind to it.
What is your favorite fragrance at Antique Candle Co.®?
I like Apple Pickin'. It smells so real, like you're walking through an apple orchard. I love how it is so fresh and authentic.
What is your favorite thing about Lafayette, Indiana?
It's a friendly community. A lot of people know each other, and even though it's growing, it still feels like a nice small town.
