testimonies of faith
The heart behind Antique Candle Co.® is Christ. The Lord has truly blessed this small candle-making business and continues to guide us in our mission to make a positive impact in the world by spreading light - not only the light of our candles, but the light of Christ. ✨
We recently asked some of our candle crew friends a couple of questions about what their life was like before Christ and how their life has changed after getting to know Jesus. We hope and pray that you find encouragement through these shared stories of faith! ❤️

What Bible verse resonates with your story & how has it impacted your life?
I do not have a specific verse, but I do have women in the bible that I resonate with; Esther, Deborah, Miriam, etc. These women remind me to boldly devote my life as a sister in Christ and a child of God.
Could you paint a picture of what your life was like before you came to Christ? Are there any specific struggles that you would like to share?
As a kid, I more so unknowingly went through life without purpose. I never necessarily felt lost until the season when my Dad lost his job, my family lost our home, and my grandpa passed away. I searched for answers. I never knew I was missing a greater purpose to life until I spoke to Jesus myself.
How did you encounter Jesus? What did this look like? Was there any one or a group of people who impacted you?
My introduction to Jesus was on March 13, 2005 when I saw my dad get baptized. I was 10 years old. However, I did not fully accept Him until the following few years. In this time my grandpa passed away, my dad lost his job, and my family lost our home. Our neighbors urgently moved our possessions into their yards while I sat alone in my empty room writing a faint note to the government asking, "Why would you take our home?" I understood I may not get a reply from them.
So I looked up and asked, "Why are they taking our home?" This was my first conversation with Jesus. My dad quite literally rebuilt our foundation on Christ, and I became adamant of not only the existence of Jesus, but the goodness of Jesus through all circumstances. My dad baptized me on November 23, 2010.
Are there any changes that you see in your life after meeting Jesus? How does he influence this change? What is your life like now?
Before I met Christ, my words were insensitive, absentminded, and down right mean. After meeting Jesus, in 7th grade, I became known as the "goody-two-shoes" Christian girl and I could not be happier with the label granted by my fellow middle school classmates. I continue to have a strong personality. However, I am aware of how I think, how I speak, and how I love others.
Are there any struggles or challenges that you walked or are walking through even after being a Christ follower that shape your story?
Of course! We're all human. We all have our struggles. It's difficult to share personal matters when it involves my immediate family, but the beauty is knowing that Jesus is walking through these struggles with me.

What Bible verse resonates with your story & how has it impacted your life?
I have a few but one that comforted me during difficult times is Jeremiah 29:11 (NSV), “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plants to give you hope and a future.”
Could you paint a picture of what your life was like before you came to Christ? Are there any specific struggles that you would like to share?
Growing up, I remember attending church, but usually I just sat in the back row coloring or reading while never really listening to the sermon taking place. I never truly understood why we even needed to attend. Before Christ, I was typically a little rebellious, insensitive, and merely just living.
How did you encounter Jesus? What did this look like? Was there any one or a group of people who impacted you?
It wasn’t until I reached high school and started attending youth group that I really learned who Jesus was and became a believer. I looked forward to spending time with my friends on Wednesday evenings and growing stronger in our faith together. But during college, life got busy and messy. I stopped attending church and ultimately lost touch with my faith.
I reencountered Jesus after my mom passed away after her courageous battle with breast cancer. My family was going through a very difficult time. I was so mad and angry at the world. I remember wishing I had someone I could talk to and in that moment, I knew that instead of denying Him during these dark times, I could turn to Him. Jeremiah 29:11 was one of the verses that helped me through. Knowing that God was there with me and had a plan for my life, regardless of my current situation, was uplifting.
Are there any changes that you see in your life after meeting Jesus? How does he influence this change? What is your life like now?
I truly believe that He has lead me to where I am at today. I am blessed to work for this amazing company where I get to use my writing to share His light with others. I’ve even joined the Missions Committee whose purpose is to serve and give within our community and the world. Our committee also meets regularly to pray over prayer requests from our candle makers and candle friends.
Are there any struggles or challenges that you walked or are walking through even after being a Christ follower that shape your story?
Every season of life brings new struggles, but I believe that God has a plan for me even if it doesn’t make sense at the time. He is with me every step of the way and will bring me through it.
What little nugget or word would you like to leave with the readers?
No matter what you’re going through, Christ is the constant. He will be there in every situation. He is faithful, consistent, and always working through the hearts of His believers.
